1. How does Knowio operate on construction sites?
Knowio replaces keys, fobs and combination locks with app-based access control. Site managers can open and close gates remotely, create temporary passcodes for contractors, track smart padlocks on containers and receive real-time alerts if any gate is left open, all from one app.
2. Does Knowio manage contractors on a construction site?
Yes. Contractors can be sent one-time passcodes for single use or time-restricted access. Using or expiring a passcode disables it, eliminating the risk of shared or copied codes.
3. How is Knowio securing construction site containers?
The Knowio Smart Padlock secures containers, storage units and fuel bowsers with Bluetooth and keypad entry. All access events are logged with a timestamp and user ID, providing site managers with complete visibility as to who accessed what and when.
4. Can Knowio notify me if a gate to a construction site is left open at nite?
Yes. Knowio can send real-time alerts if a gate or padlock is left open past a defined time or if it is still open at a defined time of day such as end of shift.
5. Can I use Knowio on construction sites without mains power or Wi-Fi?
Yes. Off-Grid Deployments The AccessIQ system - Smart Padlock, BLE Contact Sensor and Gateway is designed for off-grid deployments. It is battery powered and communicates via LTE cellular, so there is no requirement for mains power or fixed internet at the gate location.
6. Is it possible for a construction site CCTV to arm itself when workers leave?
Yes. Knowio can automatically arm monitored CCTV when a gate is locked or a padlock secured at the end of the day, removing the need for manual arming and ensuring the site is always protected out of hours.
7. How does Knowio prevent theft on construction sites?
Knowio replaces shared combination codes and physical keys with individual digital access, delivering a full audit trail of who was on site and when. IoT sensors can also detect when a gate or container is opened unexpectedly and send an alert right away.
8. Can Knowio limit access to certain times of the day on a building site?
Yes. Access permissions can be restricted by time, so workers or contractors can only open gates or padlocks during approved hours. Access attempts outside of these hours are blocked and logged.
9. Can I control several construction sites from one dashboard?
Yes . Site managers and project teams can use the Knowio App and Portal to manage access across multiple construction sites at once, with user permissions that are site-specific.
10. What hardware is used by Knowio for construction site security?
Knowio employs the ION controller for electric site gates, Smart Padlock for containers and manual gates, BLE Contact Sensor to determine open and closed status, and Gateway for off-grid cellular connectivity. All hardware is IP67 rated for outdoor use.
11. What is Knowio’s help to construction companies in meeting the site security requirements?
