Better gate control with the world’s only Bluetooth smart padlock with an integrated keypad
In conjunction with world smart access control leader, Igloo Co, we bring you the S2E smart Enterprise padlock. With a combination of Bluetooth technology combined with Igloo’s patented OTP technology, the padlock can be opened either directly via the Knowio app, or via a one off access key code, created from within the app.
Open with the app
Once in proximity of the lock, a simple button push on the app will bring the padlock to life. The LED lights on the padlock will briefly flash and the lock will beep, giving you a 30 second window to open the lock.
Open with the Keypad
Unlike a normal combination padlock with one pin, you can generate 100s of passcodes, without being near to the padlock. Employees can have their own personalised pins, while contractors can be given timed expiration pins. The system records who created the passcode, for who and when it was used.
Rechargeable, long- life battery
With a battery life of up to 12 months, the battery can be recharged via USB-C in under 1 hour. You can see how much battery is left within the app.
Waterproof and robust
IP68 rating means the padlock lasts under any conditions. CEN 3 rating means the padlock is insurance rated. With a boron steel shaft, the padlock is hugely resistant to twisting, cutting and impacts.

Know if Padlocks/gates are left open
For high risk sites, get alerts in real-time if the padlock is not properly closed, and/or the gate is not in the closed position.
Disarm security systems via keypad
Security system can be programmed to temporarily or permanently disarm when the padlock is opened via keycode, also allowing the padlock to be utilised as a keypad with our bespoke shell.

Just like an alarm system for a building, your gate can even be “armed”, so that if anyone unauthorised opens it, you will get an immediate alarm.
Our long life battery operated, IOT, contact sensors mean you will never again wonder about if one of the gates into your land is opened or closed. IGLOO SMART KEYBOX
Confidently keep keys on site with both Bluetooth & keypad opening
Our partners, Igloo Co also manufacture the Keybox 3 for Knowio. Like the padlock, it has two methods of opening - directly via the Knowio app using Bluetooth or using the keypad with Igloo’s One Time Passcode (OTP) technology.
Secure it anywhere
The keybox has been designed to be securely located in multiple locations, giving optimal versatility. Two shackles have been tested to fit most handles or to hang it on a fence or gate. Alternatively, iit can be securely screwed onto a firm structure like a wall or fence.
Large enough for multiple keys
With an inner storage space of 108 x 87 x 27 mm, there is plenty of space to secure not just normal keys but more advanced keys like car keys or even fobs or keycards. It also features hooks and a design pocket to prevent your valuables from falling out.
Long lasting battery life
The keybox is powered with 4 standard AAA batteries, which generally last for 12 months. You can also see how much battery life is left from within the app. The battery can be jump-started via USB-C in the off chance you miss the notifications under 1 hour.

2. How do Knowio smart padlocks work?

7. What is the difference between the Knowio App and the Knowio Portal?
The Knowio App is designed for end users — site operators, tenants, and authorised personnel who need to arm and disarm CCTV, control gates, and manage padlock access from a smartphone. The Knowio Portal is designed for administrators and control room operators who need deeper reporting, user management, and multi-site visibility from a desktop interface.
8. Does each Knowio product work independently or do they need to be used together?
Each product in the Knowio ecosystem works independently. You can deploy just the ION controller for electric gate control, just the Smart Padlock for a manual gate, or just the Gateway and sensors for remote status monitoring. Products can also be combined for a fully integrated access and CCTV monitoring solution across any site type.
9. What is the Knowio Gateway and what does it do?
The Knowio Gateway is a battery-operated LTE cellular device that bridges the Smart Padlock and BLE Contact Sensor to the Knowio cloud. It enables real-time padlock and gate status monitoring from anywhere in the world, even on remote sites without Wi-Fi or mains power. With the Gateway in place, left-open alerts, tamper notifications, and CCTV arm and disarm can all be triggered remotely.
10. What is AccessIQ and how is it different from ION?
AccessIQ is Knowio's off-grid access control solution for manual gates, containers, and remote sites. It combines the Smart Padlock, BLE Contact Sensor, and Gateway, and operates entirely on battery power via cellular connectivity. ION is Knowio's controller for electric gates, barriers, lights, and sounders, and connects via LAN. The two products solve different problems and can be deployed independently or alongside each other.
11. Can Knowio products be used on sites without Wi-Fi or mains power?
Yes. The AccessIQ system, including the Smart Padlock, BLE Contact Sensor, and Gateway, is specifically designed for off-grid deployments. The Gateway connects via LTE CAT(M), NB-IoT, or GPRS and runs on battery power. An optional solar panel can be added to keep the Gateway charged continuously without any manual recharging.
12. Are Knowio hardware products rated for outdoor use?
Yes. All Knowio hardware, including the Smart Padlock, BLE Contact Sensor, and Gateway, is IP67 rated for outdoor use, making it suitable for all weather conditions. The Smart Padlock is also IP68 rated, providing full waterproofing for the most demanding outdoor environments.
